Simple upgrade advice

Hello,

Thanks for all of your helpful advice. Considering adding a Pioneer 4x50 watt amp under passenger seat of an 04MC with the base audio package. Looking to upgrade sound quality without blowing the bank at this point. Assuming deck is underpowered and I can get some better sound out of stock speakers. Failing this I will replace speakers as a part II project.

I see that most posts here relate to more expansive overhauls, ipods, etc. but would appreciate any comments on this upgrade. Not into custom installs, nor do I require a sub at this point.

Thanks.

Great Start

I used to work in the Car Audio industry and was always amazed at how good some of the stock systems would sound with an amp upgrade. Assuming the stock speakers were in good condition the sound always improved. Keep in mind that your stock speakers may not have been designed to handle a large increase in power so if they start to object back off a little on the volume. Make sure you have someone experienced with amp installs so that it is done safely and that the gains and crossovers (if applicable) are set correctly. The next simple upgrade would be a good set of front speakers. It's fun to do the stereo in stages so you realize the differences each time. Enjoy your car and tunes!
