Climate Control Issue

Hi all,

My wife's Mini has some climate control issues. Heating and cooling works fine, but when she selects the "feet" position for the A/C and heat the car defaults back to the defrost setting. Do you all have an idea of where to start? On my previous vehicles these controls were regulated by vacuum, but I imagine they are electronic in this vehicle. Also, if you do know the issue, is it specific to the foot setting or will all the different positions eventually fail to work, too?

I tried searching, but I'm not really sure what keywords to even start with for this issue. My wife loves this car and I love not having a payment, so I do my best to keep it in top shape.

2009 Mini Cooper S w/ ~78k miles

Thanks in advance.

It's got automatic climate control for the temperatures but the foot/chest/defrost controls are buttons. Sorry for the slow response.

You'll need a Foxwell NT520 code scanner; the scanner will enable you to isolate your problem to the switch or the servo actuator. In my case, I had a blend-air door problem. It wasn't closing all the way letting hot air from the heater core mix with the cool air from the evaporator with the selector in full cold. I need to replace my temp control panel.
