Manual climate control issue need some ideas

So I have an 02 R53 and when I bought the car I didn't check the climate control functionality (yea I know, stupid me) so when it got hot I went to turn on the A/C but the button doesn't turn the light on and no cold air. In fact none of the buttons on the climate control panel work. No rear defrost, no recirculation, but all the ***** work correctly. So my guess is that it's a faulty control panel. I'm looking of ideas on how to verify that's what's wrong before I go out and buy a new panel. Also the fog lights don't turn on if that may be related to this.

Before you start looking for a replacement panel, check the obvious:

1) Check your fuses and make sure none are blown.
2) Make sure the panel is plugged in as it should be.

I checked the fuses didn't find any blown fuses, and I did pull the connector out and make sure it was fully seated. I was just wondering if there was any test I could do to check the control panel
