Suspension Yet another Koni Yellow installation question
SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
I'm installing Koni Yellows with Swift Spec-R sport springs. Assembly of the rear shocks and springs went off without a hitch. Had a bit more trouble getting the front struts and springs together and topped off with my Vorshlag camber plates but got it done tonight. After having finished putting the front struts and shocks together, I started wondering if I should have left out the bottom rubber "bushing" that I had removed from the OEM strut. See red arrow in attached image
Should this OEM rubber "bushing" not be installed with Koni Yellows?
I'm wondering if that rubber thingamajig is necessary since the pressure from the spring will keep it in constant contact with the spring perch, so no rattling, right?
Anyway, I'd like for folks who have experience with this to chime in.
I left mine in after examined them closely. You would find the spring would not seat right without it. Additionally it would shift around without and you would be amazed the moaning and groaning rackets they can make sitting butt naked.
