R50/53 My mini is here =)
My mini is here =)
Got the call from the dealer today that the car arrived. I had ordered it on October 13th and was told to expect it in 8 weeks. Needless to say it was unloaded from the truck today. I couldn't pick it up as my bank was closed and I can't get my bank check till Monday. I wanted to see the car so I shot upto the dealer to take a look at it. It wasn't PDI'd yet so I couldn't drive it either.
Needless to say I was really nervous as I ordered an interior I had never seen in person before and only saw some pictures of. But when I got to the dealer and got to sit in it I knew I made the right choice as the car looks awesome. The tartan red cloth and black leather really makes the interior. The black headliner is a must have as well IMHO. Ignore the crap on the inside as they still have to clean it up for me. Looks like I'll be taking it home either tuesday or friday but I may push it back till sat this way I can go driving all weekend and not have to worry about work=)
It was either really big images or really small since I'm to lazy to resize so I figured I'd save those not with modern times some time. The album with fill size pics is at the bottom

Hey, Mike-
Congratulations! That is one great lookin' MINI! I went with BRG & white myself, but was sorely tempted by Chili Red. But with the black, that's kind of rare. Looks very nice - I especially like the way the anthracite interior makes those red seat panels go *POP*!
7.6 miles on the odo, huh! Bet that won't last long!

How exciting!!! You're gonna have a crazy week, I predict....nothing like having a "little" distraction, right? I think it'd drive me nuts to have a brand new MINI and not be able to drive it all day long, too. At least they'll have plenty of time to prep it before the weekend. CR/B is very cool looking and...with that interior...you've got one fine ride!!! Congrats and happy motoring!!!
Thanks for the well wishes guys and gals. It's really tough knowing it's at the dealer and I can't bring it home but soon enough it'll be mine!

I think that the antracite interior, with anthracite dash and headliner, with the tartan red cloth/black leather seats is the best looking interior. All MCs should get that treatment. Thats what I have, and my car is PH/W!
Ah, Mike, it's gorgeous! I'm glad you decided to tough it out and wait for the MCS. But in all honesty, and from the bottom of my heart, I hate you. With a feral, screaming passion.
You see, in talking to you via PM about your car, and seeing you so excited that in a perfect world your enthusiasm could be bottled and sold as a cure for depression, suddenly I feel like the Mazda6 I am driving is very sedate and boring. No fun. No zoom-zoom. A big suck on a sour lemon. It has none of my old MINI's pluck or blower whine or handling that was wet-wired to my brain, and the 6 certainly elicits none of the excited waves from other drivers that I got from my old MCS.
But despite that all, I want you to know that I'm ecstatically happy for you, and I know you're going to have a ton of fun and memories that last a lifetime, doing everything from making banzai berserker runs down empty swaths of backroads to puttering to Blockbuster to return a DVD.
The car is that good of a companion, and endears itself to you that much. It's like a very good woman: Soft, curvaceous, voluptuous, with a delighted purr and a delight in every way. Just like such a woman, the journey with a MINI is one long, fine, flowing dance. Miss a shift in your MCS and nothing will fall to pieces; she'll merely pause, as if to say, "When you regain your composure, we'll go on."
Yeah, I think it's safe to say I miss my MINI a bit.

Congrats, RU!!! You and I are lucky enough to have our Minis show up right around the same time. My MA called me last week and told me mine was in, and I'm picking mine up on Monday (pics to follow). I'm am too psyched. I didn't do as you did and go up and check it out...I would have gone out of my mind waiting for it. So Monday's the big day....our cars must've sailed over on the same ship!?! You kinda went with the RU theme in your car's color combo! Good luck with it.
Scarlet Knight?
I suppose you're a Rutgers grad? I'm in Florida via Linden, NJ and I'm a RU grad also (class of 94). My Goddaughters right off of college Ave. If , you're not a RU grad, then this means nothing to you. If you are, then I believe that you're a proud RU grad like I am, despite the lack of sports success. Nonetheless, enjoy the Mini.

I'll be graduating from RU in December actually...just came from the first bball game of the year at the RAC. Sports are a deficiency but they do seem to be improving at least. The color combo and it's relation to the RU colors are a pure coincidence by the way
