I don’t really know what to call it but I’m attaching a video to show it, it’s like a kind of grinding loose sound? Almost like gears meshing roughly. I’m worried it may be my tensioner for my timing chain, but I’ve heard it can also be a clutch bearing? I know it had a new clutch install about 30k miles ago. In the very beginning the engine is sort of ticking too? Is that normal? I checked my purge valve and it’s fine. Plus the sound seems to be from under the inter cooler. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hard to tell from a video.

You can usually doagnose a rattling clutch by pressing in the clutch pedal.....if the rattle stops when pressed, it’s probably the throwout bearing. My car does this and my last r53 did it.

if that’s not it, then I would check your tensioner and idler pulleys......are they going bad?.....if the bearings are going out, they can make a grinding noise. Release the belt and spin the pulleys to test.

if your car has a lot of miles, it’s a good idea to change out the timing chain tensioner anyway. The part is cheap and it’s easy to do with the passenger front wheel removed.
