I don't remember the details but it worked in the 2016 4 dr/ht. Coded it, tested it once it worked and wife never actually used it. Sorry but I really don't remember the exact steps. Could also be that BMW defeated it. Check with Bimmercode developer, he responds to emails.

I’ll check on this and get back. Btw when you coded it did the Bimmercode app give directions about holding the I drive **** forward and follow the instructions? If you don’t get that prompt not sure if VIM is activated.

I think your Headunit is entrynav2 aka entryEvo, this headunit can't play Video files.

I have the exact same problem, how do we check which headunit do we have installed in our cars please? I could play videos in my 2016 Cooper S but can't play those same videos of the USB stick on my 2019 f56 JCW. And if we do have that entrynav2 what do we need to swap and can it be swapped to get the option to play videos?

PM me the last 7 of your vin and I'll tell you. You need nbt Evo which is a headunit that has a hard drive with storage and the ability for you to play videos.

Thanks so much William, here are the last 7 digits from my VIN: 2H81134.

So since I probably don't have the unit with hard drive, which exactly unit would I need that'll work in my 2019 jcw and play videos. How much would the unit cost and how much do you think the install would cost? Would it need to be programmed/unlock by the dealership?

Thanks.

So this is the list of codes I found that need to be changed and when I read all the modules in bimmercode I can't find half of them - is there an updated list of codes that need to be changed on 2019 model year f56 Cooper S/JCW's?

Have you tried using Esys?

Just wondering why you would want this capability. Hopefully, it is for the benefit of the passenger, while you are driving. Otherwise, not a great idea from a safety perspective.

I think it’s more of a novelty. I have the ability and have only used it once to test functionality.
Never can have too many options in our minis!

I guess that’s true. 😉 when I finally get my music the way I want it, I am afraid it might sound so good, that I will get lost in it and forget that I am driving....😊

Yea it was a party piece for my passengers, they all loved it in my 2016 Cooper S and now I don't have it in 2019 JCW - not a big deal but hey, if it's possible I'd like to enable it.

And to answer the other question, no I didn't try using esys, I was under impression that Bimmercode would be enough - it was enough to enable it on my '16 Cooper S.

You can use Bimmercode to enable it but it won’t work. You will need a .bin VIM unlock file.

Thanks for that info. I wasn't aware that this changed, I used Bimmercode on my 2016 and it was all I needed for it to work, what changed?

Do you have any info as to where to get the file and where to go to code it so I could have it again? I guess I'll need ethernet to OBD2 adapter cable and a link to the esys file (is esys VIN/model year dependent? How to get the proper one?) I read something about it some time ago on bimmer forums and how you needed to PM a certain member and he would send you the link to the latest multi gigabyte file to download and such - any advice? Thanks.

I got 2019 f56 JCW with 8.8 inch touch display but not sure which HU - this is what I got when looking through the menu settings in the car and a screenshot from Bimmercode where I did access what looks like HU_NBT_EVO unit. Is there another way of finding out which exactly HU I have without taking it apart to look up the labels on them? Under Current version for Media it says MT-002.126.001 - can you look that up and figure it out? I didn't find anything on google.

Great, thanks man, so does anybody know how to enable video in motion on this unit? Do I absolutely need ESYS or it can be done with Bimmercode? Can someone please post some instructions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
