R50/53 Axle
After removing the axle nut, disconnecting the control arm and lower ball joints & tie-rod from the hub, swing the entire knuckle assembly outward until the splined shaft of the axle slides pulls out of the hub, making sure you have first supported it so it does not drop. Then from underneath, you'll need a longish pry-bar to "pop" it out of the gearbox, as unlike the passenger side which just slides out, it is retained in by a circlip.

That’s why the axle needs to be ‘popped’ out.

He’s using aftermarket axles that he said are pretty good which contradicts all that I’ve heard. I already spent a grand on the new axles so can’t go back down that road
