I have a nice pair of Sony 5 1/4 that I was thinking of putting in front. How will this work with the tweeter seperate?

 

Easy, just don't hook-up the component tweeter to anything. Your coaxial already has a tweeter. Just be aware that a lot more of your high frequency sound is going to get lost down by your knees, as compared to a high-mounted component tweeter.
