I was picking my son up from school driving slow in the parking lot. And I notice the steering wheel went stiff. I said ok I'll check the steering wheel fluids when I get home. Then i noticed the ac was out. I then checked the center gauge cluster and everything was reading fine. When I came to the stop sign the temp gauge and fuel gauge started flickering and went to normal. It was a hot ride home until the last traffic light. Then everything came back on. (Power steering, ac, and gauge cluster).

Has this happened to anybody else? What should I check? At the moment i haven't checked anything because I'm walking to pick up son #2. Please help.

 

For what it's worth, my first response would be to check the alternator.

I would also check your harmonic balancer. Did you happen to notice a burnt rubber smell? That would be one indicator of a failed balancer. If the interior rubber degrades, it can also slip badly and not power your accessory pulleys.

 

That's what I was thinking but I didn't smell nothing or see any smoke.
