Window regulator

Any idea how I’m going to get the driver window out with a striped torx bolt? Bolt was so tight it broke the T-15 bit and now it’s striped. I’m thinking my only option is to drill it out and see what happens, but I figured I’d get some advice from here first. PITA for such a simple task.

Easy, reach in and turn the **** portion. I assume you mean the bolt/**** that holds the glass to the regulator, right? On the inside it is a big ****. They make window glass wrenches, or you can simply use a pair of channel locks and turn it. Easy peasy. ORRRRRR, there is an allen head on the inside as well. Many options.

Yep. I found a video on YouTube. It must be a common mistake to go counter clockwise, breaking and striping torx bolt. I didn’t realize the torx bolt is actually the bottom of a bigger hex bolt. I was able to loosen up with channel locks from the opposite side and get the window out. The whole set up is badly engineered if you ask me. I had to pull the whole assembly out and when I did I realized I needed more than just a new motor, I needed a whole new assembly too. There is a blue cap at the end of the wire housing that was broken and wedged into the upper front pulley of the assembly. Disappointed because now I have to park it in the garage and wait to for the new assembly to arrive. At least I was able to swap out the locking mechanism that was broken too. It would only lock and not unlock with key fob. Works great now, but no point in locking it with no window, lol.

I’m wondering if there are any differences between theses assemblies, I paid $280 plus shipping from mini mania, but I just seen this one for $32 after looking at that tool on amazon.

Sorry, I would need to know what year your car is, as the system changed a bit in the gen 1 models. I think this is for the 02 through 04 models.

Oh my gosh, I had no idea you could get that kind of stuff off Amazon. So much cheaper! Anyone know how it stacks up, quality-wise? I had a new motor put in over a year ago and am fairly sure they messed up the regulator with it. Every time it goes up and down my window either clicks or pops as if its off a track or something, just slightly. Still works fine but something I want to eventually get in there and fix.

I do a lot of Minis and use many of the Amazon parts. I find many work extremely well at a fraction of the cost. But there are some that don't work out too!
I would say 90% work great!
