2013 Can't set clock with aftermarket radio

I looked on the threads that listed this. They all ended suddenly with no real resolution except one who had a bad battery.

Battery is fine. Here's the deal. Its an Alpine ILX 107 replacing the factory radio. Took it out of the '07 Mini where I just adjusted the clock via the tach - pushing stalk until the clock symbol came up. No problem

Now with the 2013 the clock symbol never shows up. Battery is fine. It was removed when doing some stereo work by a top mechanic who has the factory computer and reset all errors afterwards.

Everything else is fine. Its just annoying and I'd really like to fix it.

Hello,

Did you ever resolve this problem with setting the clock? I have installed an aftermarket head unit in my 2013 R56 and have the same problem.

Thanks.

The radio/CCC talks over the bus line to the KOMBI/IKE and is responsible for the clock. If you don't have a radio that support that signal then you will have no clock and IIRC it will affect your CBS data(vehicle needs to be serviced) as well

This is mostly correct. Without the OEM head unit you will not be able to set the clock. I had a similar issue when I tore the ribbon cable on my OEM head unit. It did not effect the CBS data, only the clock. I resolved it by replacing it with another OEM head unit.

So it will not affect the cbs data. My service indicators will work but the clock in my speedo will be wrong unless I connect my battery at midnight. I just noticed the clock in my speedo was set to am instead of pm so I know I don't care about that.

Can anyone else confirm?

If you disconnect your battery for any length of time the clock is going to reset to 00:01 01/01/01. It will also display a warning triangle after the mileage and give an error message every time you start it. It may not bother you, but it irritated me.

That is the answer I am looking for. Warning triangle and a message when I start the car. That makes it worth the effort to relocate the radio.

I have a 2010. Maybe some things have changed between the 2010 model and the 2013, but I replaced my radio when it died with a garden variety Alpine single DIN thing. I set the clock using the B/C button and the little display in the tachometer. It seemed like the clock would reset over night. Also, no radio settings were retained either. I ran a power wire straight from the battery to the radio. Seems to have fixed both problems. Car's clock stays set and so does the the radio settings. I have no idea if the two are related, but that's what happened to me.

I was hoping someone knows how to resolve , ie can the OBC be coded to move clock setting to tach, or can NCSExpert be used to change the time when needed.

Very similar to mine. I am running Agama Car Launcher as well. LOVE it!

I know on my 2012, I cannot set the date/time from the BC. Hasn't been an issue yet, my clock is off by 1 hour which will correct itself come daylight saving time.

If you have access to ISTA you can reset the Time/Date altomatically under the regiser battery function, or again as part of the CBS data reset.

You’re welcome. That’s correct, I’ll post a screenshot of the routine (ABL) shortly.

Can I ask about your display/GUI screen,
mine does not look like that, but I really like what you have there!
