New Clutch Needed

Hi All,

Clutch is slipping badly on my 2012 R60 ALL4S (72,000miles) as soon as I start making boost, the NM module has probably accelerated the clutch wear :-(

Was wondering if there are any recommendations for clutch replacement, do I go OEM or look at an aftermarket upgrade?

Stump.

You did well to get 72k on your original clutch. There are many, many threads on NAM regarding replacement clutches. Use the search function, you'll find them. You're in for a lot of reading. Take it all in. Do what you think is best after you've read all of the opinions and reviews. You may get some responses to this thread but I don't know what more anyone could write about mini clutches that hasn't already been covered here. Good Luck. My clutch gave up after 14k, right after I bought it, used.

Hi Rich,

Thanks for taking the time to respond, not looking for a debate on the quality of the original clutch, just opinions on OEM vs aftermarket, is it really worth the additional expense?

I can't speak to that. Mine was replaced with OEM under an extended service agreement. You'll find a lot of opinions on OEM dual mass flywheel vs. Single mass like the Valeo. Valeo seems to be a popular replacement. It's really best you read about the differences and make an informed decision. I'm not sure that one is that much more $ than the other. What your looking at here is a large labor bill over the cost of parts.

Then I would think your ace MINI mechanic has done his share of MINI clutch replacements with a history of what people liked and didn't, and their associated costs. Trust his judgement or educate yourself by doing your own research. As I said, you'll find more more info than you can imagine by doing a search.
