What do I have?
What do I have?
I tried the "search" but couldn't get answer. Do we have a German car made in England, or do we have an English car owned by Germans? Can I hold my head up at a British car show? Or, do I have to find a German car show and learn the words to " Deutschland Uber Alles" ? Thanks.
I'd say it is an English car owned by Germans. It depends on which model you have, some are made in England, at the original Mini assembly plant. Others are made The Netherlands and Austria, you should check your VIN, That'll tell you the county of origin.
If the first digit in the VIN is an S, then it was manufactured in Great Britain.

I belong to a couple of British car clubs courtesy of my 79 Mini
the shows they sponsor now typically have classes for Mini and MINI.
There are exceptions ... I know of one Mini club that despises MINI ... but this is a minority.
Most British car groups recognize that MINI owners present 'new blood'
My regular car show partner brings his 2004 S ... we try to park side by side and do a b4 and after thing. At 'generic' car shows we end up in the same class: import usually but bigger shows sometimes have a British class. Only all Brit shows break up the MiNi further IME but shows are not HUGE around here ....
btw I've been doing the car show thing for 13 years and can't recall ever seeing an advert for an all German show ... the only all German MAKE I see with regular shows or meets is VW ... BMW .. never .... Porsche .. never .... Benz .. never And I track the 'show activity' around me pretty closely. It gets me out of the house on many Saturdays!! Can't say this is the case away from Space Coast Florida, but that's how it is here. Chevy show annually, Vette show, MOPAR, British, VW, rat rod .... and all sorts of general "car show" and/or 'cruise in"
