09 Mini won't start

My 09 Mini cooper suddenly didn't start and steering column isn't locked and think it may have something to do with it. Can anyone help me out?

Without knowing more, my first guess would be the battery..

This can happen when the battery terminal connections aren’t fully tight. They can look tight, but grab a wrench and make sure they really are. I had the exact same problem with my last mini. I felt pretty sheepish when I figured it out.

It happened to me recently and the battery was dead.
If you changed the battery I would check that the battery is charged. Maybe they didn't charge the battery well, the battery could be defective, or worse, you could have something that drains it.

It might be something else of course, but that's a good item to check off the list...

Sometimes the start switch/button goes bad. It is pretty common in Gen 2 cars.
