MCS Jack/lug wrench location

My '05 MCS has the jack and lug wrench located in a bag that is strapped at the bottom of the boot. After removing the two side panels in the boot, it sure seems like the jack and lug wrench would fit in either side. The right side seems best, because it's away from the main battery positive terminal and the light is on that side. I can't believe the factory didn't find an out of sight lolcation for the jack. So, for those of you with earlier year model MCS's, where is your jack/lug wrench located?

Jack? Lugwrench? What are those?

I don't think my 02 MCS has them...although I may need to get them after I ditch the runflats...

I tried fitting it into the little compartment on the drivers side, but it will not fit. I have the HK amp in the one on the passenger side, so it is blocked as well. I did find that Mini sells a small black cordura bag for $5.15 that holds a quart of Mini oil, and comes with a pair of rubber gloves and a fold-up funnel. Mini of Cincinnatti threw in a quart of real Mini synthetic oil for free when I bought one, so it was sort of free. That little bag WILL fit quite nicely in the drivers side compartment, standing upright in the middle. (watch out for the screw that sticks out towards the back). As for the jack, I can't fins a place to stow it other than where it is.

I think they might have found a better spot for the jack and wrench. I had to put some air in the tires the other day since it is much colder than when I received the car. The flat tire light came on and I adjusted the pressure. Now my flat tire light will not go off. I tried the switch and driving a bit, but no joy.

I have an '03 MCS. My jack fits, albeit snugly, in the driver's side compartment. HK fills the pass. side.

Yea, we've got an '02 also and didn't get a jack or lugwrench. The only thing in there is the tow kit. Definitely need something once the runflats are gone...

I 've heard of '02 owners that complianed to their dealer about the missing jack & got one free. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

After I got non-runflats I purchased a jack and lug wrench. The '02 manual says,"depending on the level of equipment, your MINI is fitted with a special on-board tool kit." This seems to indicate that it was only provided with
Coopers. All I found was the towing kit. If the tool kit was included in later
MCS models it won't hurt to ask for one at no cost or in my case, refunding what I paid.......especially since some dealers have simply handed it out to those who have inquired......a nice good will gesture. I have to go in tomorrow anyway, so I'll give it a shot.

Not only did they not give a jack in 2002 S but they forgot to install the emergency boot latch pull ring, which was also in the handbook. Told MiniUSA I wanted it installed. Done:smile:

Even a car with run flats might have to have the wheel removed, or the car jacked up for some other reason. I thought that earlier cars had the jack slung under the car somewhere in the back. Worth asking about.

Joe: Nah! No Jack.
I was amazed also. They were all about telling us we didn't get one and that the handbook/manuel was a printing mistake.
. I made noise then got fed up with lame excuses and demanded both items fixed or I will get .
I think they realized they didn't have a Legal leg to stand on.
Done!

I'm still getting over a bad case of indigestion after a full course of crow - because I can't believe I now officially own a vehicle that doesn't have a spare. I remember thinking it was so stupid when BMW was bold [is that the correct word?] enough to sell the Z3 sans spare. Guess I should consider myself lucky to have at least gotten a jack and lug wrench. If they didn't provide a jack and lug wrench, at a minimum, you should have received a credit card application...

However, next time I'm out shopping, I plan on buying one of those bricks that has a mini compressor and some tire sealant. For two reasons - 1) once the runflats are gone, I plan on conventional tires, 2) here in NM there are many instances where 50 run-flat miles at 50 mph ain't gonna be enough...

The service manager said today that the '02 MCS just didn't come with a jack and lug wrench.......no $$ back. It's a minor issue and to me and it's not worth making a big stink about it. The manual also mentions a first aid kit.......did anyone get one?

After reading this thread and not remembering ever seeing a jack, sure enough, one was not supplied with my 04 MCS. I caled my dealer and no questions asked, the kit is ready for me to pick up tonight. They even offered to send it to me.

I think that the first aid kit was for when you jacked up the car and dropped it on your foot. No jack, no need for the first aid kit.
