Does anyone know if the base stereo 6.5" driver can be replaced with the HK 6.5" driver - don't care too much about sonic quality, more concerned about it fitting physically and the connector working - just need to get a stereo back to working as a result of a blown speaker in the base stereo setup. There seem to be a lot more used HK units on eBay, etc. and they actually are generally LOWER in cost that the base replacement. Physically they look the same - 4 screws, same-looking connector. Looking for plug and play if possible.

 

The Ohm rating of the speakers are the determining factor. You might not care about sound quality, but you could damage head unit if the ohms are not a close enough match. Hopefully someone will chime in with the actual numbers for you. You might be better off just buying a pair of cheap 6.5" speakers to match what you have.
