Heads up Display

Is there a physical switch somewhere in my car that I can flip to raise and lower the Heads up Display without going into the vehicle settings. Just can't find one

2018 Countryman S with Technology pkg.

Well, it depends on when your 2018 was built. After July 2017 (if memory serves me), the far right switch is used for selecting the driving mode (Sport, Mid, Green). That is what I have on my 2018, built in November. I don't know of a way to select the head up display other than to use the software menu. I suppose one could set one of the six programmable buttons to bring up that screen directly and save a bit of futzing around, if the car was built after MINI made the change to the toggle switch.

Sorry for the partial (bad) info...I did not remember that they moved any switches....

Thanks for the replies.. Mine was built Jan 2018 and the lower right toggle has the Sport mode. I am intrigued by the possibility of setting one of the programmable buttons. How would one go about doing that.

Navigate to that menu, then hold down one of your 1-6 preset buttons. Not familiar with that menu or how many levels deep it is (mine's a 2017 w/ the hard toggle) but as 18cmjcw said you might at least be able to save a few steps of menu digging, but still have to do the actual toggle on-screen or with the controller.

Location heads up switch

Good pic 'Boss', that is the location for the heads up display activation switch on my 2017 model.
After seeing your clear pic, I took the vacuum and 'horse-hair' brush attachment to the dash. I guess dust and pollen are heavy this spring. Driving around with the window down doesn't help.

have a good one !

So.... I tried it, and the effect is perfect. First, I navigated to the Head Up menu screen. Then I held down the #2 preset button for a few seconds until the button was programmed. Then I pushed the menu button on the center console to return to the main screen to try it out. Now, whenever I touch the #2 preset momentarily, it toggles the Head Up display on/off just like the hard switch on the 2017s, without even changing whatever is showing on the screen at that moment. It saves all the menu hunting and clicking with the controller. You have to do the programming while the engine is running or you won't get access to the Head Up display menu.

Just wait - it even has a mind of it's own and will open and close doors without being told to do so.

I didn't know we had programmable buttons! Going to mess with that tomorrow. That's awesome.

I set my presets 1 and 2 buttons to take me home or cancel destination. Pretty cool!

I have the home button programmed, but a button to cancel a destination is a great idea!

I use the voice command for that; a quick tap and “stop guidance” and it’s done, but I hate that the lady in the dashboard is so verbose - I’d rather she just cancel the destination and not have to tell me “Guidance has been stopped.”

Now I wonder if there are any coding settings that can change that behavior...

Hah, even better! I’m still learning. Picked up our car from the dealer a few days ago and it’s been at the detailer ever since getting ceramic coated and such.

I do remember reading something in the owner’s manual about being able to set the voice commands to “short” or something. Not sure if that would help.
