RMW Mahle Motorsport custom pistons

RMW Mahle pistons are available in size from 77.5mm and 8.5:1 compression ratio.

We have worked extensively with Mahle Motorsports and the engineer from Chrysler to design something special. Our designs will fit flush in the bore around the outer ring to give better quench and the unique center dome helps "stir" the mixture for better power and torque. Anodized ring lands to give greater strength. Mahle Motorsport custom rings for low oil consumption. These pistons have the tightest bore clearance on the market and will be quieter than all of our competitors pistons. Mahle's Grafal coating on the side skirts just like the factory pistons. This is another first in the Mini community.
The pistons are designed to handle 50psi of boost and 800whp! You won't find a better piston for your Mini Cooper.

MAHLE is the world's leading manufacturer of high quality performance pistons and engine components. With a long heritage in Formula 1 and other profile race series worldwide, it was a natural evolution to introduce a line of products to the North American market. A new division, MAHLE Motorsport, was formed in 2000 to develop performance piston and related components specifically designed for all US racers and performance enthusiasts.

The MAHLE PowerPak is a complete, race proven piston assembly kit composed of hand deburred, forged, performance coated pistons, high quality steel pins, round wire locks and low drag performance rings. Performance coasting include a phosphate dry lubricant that is used to protect against ring micro-welding and pin galling during initial startup and break in. For added performance, MAHLE applies its proprietary Grafal anti-friction coating to each piston skirt.

For $50K he can build engines for a fleet of monster Minis, complete with those custom Mahle pistons, Carrillo rods, and serious horsepower.

Jan, nice to have you back on NAM!

Mahle spec min.0008 to max.0016 on their forged mini pistons with the grafal coating, giving a quiet startup with no rattles. (The OEM R53 pistons are forged, and designed to run as tight as .0005" from the factory.

More details on clearance, and the alloys used in this thread 15 months ago: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...hle-vs-cp.html

Alex (Unbreakable Lump) is the expert. He contributed to the design of the R53 engine, and the factory race engine development programs.

It is really fantastic that Alex visits this site occasionally and gives insight on how these engines were built. Not many manufacturers have a engineer on a forum explaining engine development. I copied one of his posts and put it in my “Mini” file.
