Help identifying a part? (Rubber along the chrome trim below the wiper apron)
Hi all! This is my first post, so I hope that I'm doing this correctly!
I just bought a used 2013 Mini Cooper (base hatchback) and noticed some minor cosmetic damage to the rubber on top of the chrome trim piece that's just below the wiper apron/cowl, on the top of the hood (picture below). I'm wondering if it would be possible to replace this, and if so, what the name of the piece (or maybe even part number?) is so that I can find the correct part.
I'm a new driver, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question :)
Apparently, there is a difference between the pre- and post-8/1/2010 production vehicles, but I'm not sure what it is. If you call them, they can help.
That looks like a squirrel went after it....doubt that you would be able to replace/repair just the black rubber piece and have it look acceptable....maybe if you replace the entire top strip it might work okay.
BTW, that chrome strip comes off the hood pretty easily....can't remember how it comes off, but I've done it and I was surprised how easy it was to take off. If you need some more detail, let me know.
If i remember right there was a slight change in the hood part number at one time for the pre 8/2010 to the post 8/2010 on the base models. I think the curved stayed mostly the same but MINI changed the part number for that trim also.

Welcome to NAM!
Thanks for the help! It looks like the ECS site says the part in your link isn't compatible with the 2013 Mini Cooper, so I'll shoot them a message to see if they can help me find the right one. If the whole replacement part is the chrome piece+rubber strip together, I'll happily replace the whole thing. If you have any tips or instructions at all from your experience replacing it, I'd definitely love to hear them! Glad to hear you thought it was easy as well--I'm currently struggling to even replace my wiper blades...ha. (Very, very new to cars...but excited to learn.)

Thanks for your reply! I'll probably be live chatting you guys for assistance...
Sorry to be so slow with the picture. The trim piece comes off very easily...it is a pinch fit onto the rear edge of the hood. Start lifting at either end and just pull off.

Thanks, you're the best! This decided it for me--I'll definitely give it a shot.
