I've gone through quite a few threads but haven't found exactly what i'm looking for per my interest.

I'm currently on 17x7 stock set up and want to go a bit wider maybe 17x8. However, i'd like to keep a thick and wide tire instead of the stretched or thin tire look. Is that possible with 17x8 or do i need to go to a 16x8? You'll have to school me as far as offsets go as this is all a bit new to me.

Currently the rest of the car is stock and the only other plans is to add a tune.
