Catless Downpipe Options?

I decided a catless downpipe is going to be my next mod. I have a Milltek midpipe so I was thinking about their catless DP.

Im just not sure whats out there anymore, good, bad or ugly.

Milltek:

Go Milltek. I've had the Milltek and before that another, popular to this forum and much more expsensive downpipe that was nothing but fitment problems and didn't warrant the high cost at all. I'm also not the only with extreme fitment problems with this unnamed downpipe.

Milltek fit perfect first time and you cannot beat the price.

I've heard nothing but good things about the Milltek DP. It's the one I'll be going with.

Newbie here. Is this done for improved sound or power or both? What is the benefit? We had a Subaru WRX and this removal of the first cat/downpipe change was pretty much step one for more performance - same for the MINI?

When I fitted my Milltek Decat, I gained around 5WHP on the dyno. This was on a JB4, hence better gains are to be expected with proper tuning.
Exhaust noise was much louder, I recommend getting a system with resonated mid-pipe if you're planning to fit a decat pipe. The fully-open setting on my Remus Race is now unusable because of the noise.

Fitment was spot on, only minor weld deburring/cleaning of the inside to improve flow. Trouble free for more than 2 years so far. CEL has been turned off via JB4 and now via Bytetronik flash.

Very complete reply - thanks! I wondered how you fooled the ECU into thinking you hadn't removed that cat. I will live with my new (not yet arrived) car for a while and decide what it needs in terms of sound (mostly).

There is a spacer on the DP that raises the sensor to simulate "normal" airflow

There is but you still get a CEL without some third party product turning it off.

ByteTronik will tweak your tune to allow for that.

Correct on the above. And if you don’t fancy waking up your neighbors in the morning, tell Bytetronik to turn off cold start (catalytic warming) cycle as well. It’s useless once you don’t have a catalytic converter. No more loud start ups in the morning!

Good point. I never thought of that, although I don't have neighbors close enough to worry about.

I have a one year old girl, the cold start delete alone was worth the 700 bucks. Couldn’t do it with a piggyback that’s for sure.

I understand you predicament. My baby girl is almost 44 years old and lives 25 miles away, so no problem for me. Caught a lot of flak about my racing bikes when the kids were that age though.

Oh nice, I didnt know that was an option either. I know they did turn off the CEL warning with the tune I have now even though I still have that stupid OEM DP in
