I'm kind of bored with the stock look of my 2013 Countryman. I especially don't like the exhaust tips and had an idea: dual angled exhaust tips. Has anyone done this? would it be cool, or stupid?? thoughts??? Am I crazy for even considering it?
Here is my car:
The opening in the trimpiece wouldn't be big enough for dual tips I don't think -- but if I were to add tips something like this:
then angle them 45 degrees in (or out? I played with both and think angled in looked a little better??)
You might get something that looks like I took 2 minutes to mock it up in MS Paint (which is exactly what I did):
Na. I think even two of the small stock-size ones will look off in the great big bumper opening. Plus if you look at my pic below you wouldn't really get much of a 45 degree angle like your above photo wants to show....they will be more one-on-top-of-eachother I bet since the center portion is pretty low.
I'm with ke3ee above. Get some cannons in there.
Best $35 I have spent so far on it was getting bigger tips on there.
If you were going to do it, I'd say have the angle going OUT, not In. But honestly, you'll probably get better sound and it will look better going a larger single tip on each.
I think its Megan Racing that has a muffler only replacement which has larger tips. Or just cut the OEM off and get some basic tips for like $20 on ebay. just measure 3 times before cutting.
I played with angle out too. it was probably just my bad photoshop skills but it didn't seem to look as good. DEFINITELY going larger tips no matter what though (and that pic above doesn't show that)
here's the mockup angled out, just for completeness:
pretty inexpensive, looks good, Megan is good quality. I have a muffler I used on my IS300 build- 650 HP, sounds fantastic and looks OEM.
Ive ran their suspension on my MR2's and my IS300's- as well as their tower braces. They are a budget friendly company with high quality.

That is a crazy price and looks great....how did it sound?? I’m always concerned with the impact on sport mode burble...which on my 4th Mini with JCW...I still have never heard a pop!.....great marketing I guess...
i dont know how it sounds- but from looks and knowing Megan, it should sound clean.
the "universal" oem replacement i used on my IS300 build had a since low tone, my wife said between an Austin Martin and a 350Z. no resonance in cab either. could hardly hear it- and thats on a true 3" full exhaust and 650hp.
so knowing that- id say it more than likely has a very smooth note with no highway drone. probably close to oem, but maybe a few decible higher and maybe a note deeper.
