Passenger Seat Belt Warning

I own a 2016 JCW 3 door Hardtop. It currently has 19,000 miles. The front passenger seat, seat belt warning goes off after starting the car and driving above 10 mph. This happens continually even though there is no passenger in the front passenger seat. The only way I can keep the car from chiming, is to buckle the passenger front seat belt even though there is no passenger in the seat. I have an appointment on January 5, 2018 for the 2 year maintenance service and the service advisor knows about the problem. What do you think the problem is? Sensor not functioning properly? Loose wire or connector?

Has anyone else had this issue? What corrected the issue?

Do you have anything on the seat? It doesn't take too much to get those chimes going, even a full water bottle will do it.

Nothing is on the passenger front seat.

Sounds like the occupancy sensor went tango uniform. Since it's under warranty let Mini fix it. The chime can also be turned off using bimmercode app or esys.
