End of year pulley party, anyone?
End of year pulley party, anyone?
Just worked this out with my employees and mechanics, and wanted to know how much interest I have out there in the Carolinas (and Georgia, no need to be selfish...)
We will be having a pulley party towards the end of the year or beginning of 2005. The event may be at our current location, or (obviously!) if we have moved, it will be at our new location which will be announced well ahead of the event. My mechanic needs to be trained on the installation process prior to the event, and I have already spoken to a customer about doing his pulley at a discounted rate to train my mechanic.
I have experience doing this installation myself. I LEARNED on my own persoanl car by the instruction of our very own Trey Rogerson of Cat & Dog Racing in Charleston. In case you don't know who he is, he was the person who taught Randy Webb the (in my own and honest opinion) correct way of installing a pulley in the car, saving hours of time for each installation.
Lets see how many people currently do not have pullies installed and are interested in having it done. Please note, this will void your warranty, so be expecting that. Lee at Century MINI service will be glad to make sure you understand the situation, hah...

Apology
I would like to apologize, about a misunderstanding that had taken place that was entirely my fault. I did not make a clear post. I did not have any intention of my post to look negatively against fast lane tunning. I stated in a post, that " the fate of my fun is in his hands" it was not in regards to fast lane tunning, it was in regards to Lee at Century Mini. Lee and I had a discussion about adding a pulley to my car. He said that he could not continue warranty coverage if I altered the car. He was very nice about it. I meant no harm against anyone, anybody or anything. I was trying to better the opportunity of getting an aftermarket part to be covered under warranty. If it was more stock like in design. Once again, I am sorry for any misunderstanding that may have occured. I am sure that fast lane tunning does a fine job. I have pulled the posts, so their will be no further confussion. If their are any questions please send me a message and I will gladly respond, if further clarification is needed.
I could have sworn I had posted this earlier..
I had a conversation this past week with Mike Barrett about pully installs (even though I don't need one on my MC). He told me the following: "They void your warranty, as they can cause cavitation of the water pump, thus overheating your engine.. Some pullys even cause cavitation at your most used RPMs, between 3,500 and 5,000 RPMs. If you install a pully, make sure you find a matching waterpump."
Just passing on the info..
OOps, It was on another thread!

When? No idea yet, we will be evaluating in on the basis of how many people will be able to attend, and when their schedules will allow for it.
Price? We have a rough idea on price that will be very competitive to other pulley parties. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, however.
