I have around 300 miles on my "S" and my beautiful white wheels are black already. Has anyone found pad upgrades that don't put out so much dust? Ceramic pads would be good but I can't find 'em. chandlers4@attbi.com

You just need to clean your wheels more often than every 300 miles...

I have silver rims and the brake dust is a big pain as well, try minimania for the kevlar pads...

Not sure if it will work on our Mini ( dont have many miles on ours) but sometimes waxing the wheel extends the time in between needed washings.

Brake dust is a terrible thing, and I can imagine how much more obvious it looks on the white wheels.

There are pads that claim to have less brake dust, but I always feel that a healthy coating of brake dust means that my braking surfaces are working to their best ability. Considering that this is a common complaint, I am sure that the aftermarket pad manufacturers are working day and night to come up with a profitable solution for themselves.

Maybe the MINI community should just get together and decide that we are going to consider a nice layer of brake dust to be as charming and respectable as a pair of well-worn comfortable hiking boots?

Think how much more time we could spend sitting comfortably behind the wheel rather than bent over on our hands and knees scrubbing one!

I have heard that "Kleen Wheels" cuts your brake dust to almost nothing. The wheels are removed, Kleen Wheels (clear plastic protectors) are added, wheels are replaced and retorqued to 100, and you're good to go. Anyone have experience with these? I'm planning to add to my S.

Another easy solution would be to pay a neighbor kid a couple bucks once a week to scrub off the brake dust.

Outsourcing the crap jobs is the way to go!

When I wash my white wheels it looks like they are bleeding brake dust blood. It is really weird looking but it rinses right off with a sponge and a hose. I have waxed them like others have suggested. It's not a tough job, but yes I do have to clean them at least weekly.

It's the price you have to pay to have these hot looking wheels.

If you like nice clean wheels you will have to clean or have someone do it as often as needed
