Has anyone tried this site? According to Popular Mechanics, you can get info to service and even reprogram your MINI. When I go to the site, it tells me I have to have a Windows computer to access the site. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this before.....

What you get....

".....work on your car with the special manuals, bulletins and some of the special tools the dealer shops have. In fact, you can even reprogram your cars computer using a PC and a generic device that works on all makes. You thought all that stuff was incredibly expensive? Not anymore-it's available to everyone from factory tech-service Web sites. Aside from a shop uniform, anything the dealer techs gets, you can too, including once-secret memos."

First off, they are running a shitty browser detect script that insists you use IE or Netscrape. I'M USING MOZILLA FIREFOX! The most standards compliant browser EVER coded; this website's code is written like a second grader designed their site. Second, the prices look like the biggest rip off I've seen on the web since that Nigeria spam scam. Third, a whois look up returned this wonderful info:

I can't even ping bmwna.com and bmwusa.com's registration information is completely different. I think this may be fraudulent.

Did a Google search on "bmwna.com" and it appears to be legit. They don't have a website on that domain, but it seems they use it for their North American email addresses.

So while their prices may be outrageous and the code written by amateurs it doesn't appear to be a scam...at least not in the truest sense of the word.

Can't comment on the rest of the site stuff, but bmwna.com is a legit domain. I've dealt with a couple of folks at HQ that helped me get a replacement part that was impossible to find.

Also just because a site doesn't respond to PING doesn't me it's not legit. Most commercial sites ignore ICMP traffic

Are you using Internet Explorer? A few comments about using the site in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ir-manual.html. Among NAM members, strobeyprobey probably has the most experience with the site. You might try contacting him if you need advice.

I can get on the site just fine. The problem is when on the site, and scrolling through the menus, I don't seem to be able to find what I need. There are supposed to be installation instructions available but I can't find them. I am installing a suspension kit, and it referes to the instructions dealing with the subframe available on the site. Once on www.minitechinfo.com how do I find the instruction documents?

And once again the Ba@$%Rds at microIneedtowntheWorldsoft keeps us mac owners from gaining entry to a site! Anybody know if there's a bulletin on air leaks around the Turbo intake, output openings? My dealer has kindly siliconed while I wasn't looking. And just spotted it with the assistance of an independent garage. And it's also odd that BMWNA, and the Great support line we all have at 866 ask mini has no ideas about the service bulletins?! Kinda like Wells Fargo does their Banking!! UUumph!
