2012 R56 Black headlights

Hi everyone, I'm new to NAM and a new Mini owner. I have a 2012 R56s and I am looking to replace my stock halogen headlights with black housing lights. Something similar to what Spec D offers except I want to still have a hi beam function. It seems like all the replacements I find have a hi beam lock function disabled. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Those aren't much better than stock and the quality sucks. My left side bounces up and down cause one of the mounting screws to the adjustment motor is loose. The only way to get to it is to heat it up and pull the light apart. I'm going to end up replacing the halogen projectors with real HID projectors this winter.

Well I hope that's a very rare case because I ordered the lights from my friends at ECS already. I'll post pics and a review later

Lighting Update

so I got the lights yesterday and had a few minutes to install them today. I'm enclosing a couple pics of the installed lights. I haven't driven with them yet but tomorrow will be a good test. I'll have about a 2 hour drive each way to the Mini dealership in Rochester, NY where my wife will be picking up a 2014 R60 S. Her 1st Mini also. The way home I'll need to have the headlights on. 75MPH for almost 2 hours should give me something to go by. I'll update again soon.

Thanks, those look great and really change the front end and now you have a properly focused light with cutoff.

Are those different from factory auto-level Xeons with black housing?

Yes, the overall look is about the same, but these are more of a matte finish and no headlight washers and of course, they are halogen.

Just based on the angle and pitch the car is at.

Nope, they are done. We were the last to get them in and the vendor is not bringing them in again.

I would go with Ziza, i just upgraded to these on my r58. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ziza-par...minir56hl~vin/

Closest with halogen headlights factory >>> aftermarket Halogen headlights:

Otherwise you have to convert to our built in led options linked above that are retrofits. .

With a H9 bulb being a single filament bulb, how does the highbeam work?

They are single beam with a flap. Thats how the Xenons are. Flap goes up, thats high beam.
