I use mine for MP3 music. Rip any CD's you have to MP3 and copy to the thumb drive. Insert in the USB adapter on the center console and listen to your own music.

If you have the hard drive in your sound system you can copy music from your computer via the thumb drive to the hard drive. Note any thumb drive should do this: nothing special about MINI's.

I got one that looks like an R56: you pull the nose of the car off to get to the plug. Unfortunately, it's only 1 GB, so I use my own stubby 16GB flash drive for MP3s (about 5 straight days' worth!).

That's a decent size drive. Nice gift and it will hold a lot of tunes!

On my last trip to the dealer still no USB, but they did give me a nice little Mini First Aid Kit.

Only thing the dealership ever gave me was "attitude", at least it was free.

What say all about my first 10k service now being displayed to go in for service around 8800? I'm good, right? It's not my fault I drive in Sport, however I feel like there's more wear on the engine in Green mode.

My R56 first service was just over 3K, because it starts on the first date of service. The date it was built. Sat on the dealers lot for 9 months.
It was 1 year or 10K.
