Club meetings quarterly?

This past annual club meeting got me to thinking. There was so much club business to be discussed I think some of it got overlooked due to the time constraints. What's the feeling about having our club meetings on a quarterly basis instead of yearly?

We could plan them to take place in different locations each time to offer coverage of the entire M2C2 area. Turnout at the annual meeting was good, but I know there were people who couldn't make it because of the distance. Doing travelling meetings would give everyone a chance to participate more directly in the club's operation.

Any thoughts on this?

This sounds really good! I know there are so many more people that would have loved to have come, but like you said, the distance. I would be up for it!

I agree. I think it would be fun to move the meeting around and have more than one per year.

I would be glad to host the 1st one in Charlotte, maybe in January.

The new MINI dealer in Charlotte will be open by then and maybe they would be willing to accommadate us. I will stop and meet them as soon as I can and ask them. I was told they have hired the sales staff and are working in the BMW store.

What does everyone think of this idea????

I'd be up for it, and I have a friend that lives in Charlotte, so it's all good!

George, we can always do Jillian's again and have dinner afterwards. Just a suggestion!

I also think having meetings more frequently is a good idea and moving them around. I vote yes!

Rotation is the key to participation....one of our biggest obstacles is the relatively large piece of geography included in our membership.

Charlotte and Columbia seem to be the most "central" to the entire group, so it seems reasonable to have "full memberhip" meetings in those areas more often than in the farthest reaches.

Perhaps quarterly meetings, with one in Charlotte, one in Columbia, and rotating the other two ?

Charlotte and Columbia are a reasonable drive for me, and I have no objections..

Well, I can't really speak for the "Super Grand Poobah" having never achieved that exalted position personally, but......

You definitely have more clout than the "Semi-Grand Poobah/Vishnu of the Midlands MINIacs"

A bump on this item. The discussion kind of got sidetracked and never recovered. Any one else have thoughts on this idea?

I also agree that quarterly meetings would help keep the club more active. Rotating the meeting place around to regions would help keep it interesting and share the burden of organizing an event with each meeting... and it doesn't always have to be a driving event (and I like to drive as much as the next MINI owner), but we could try to do a charity event or something of the sort.

We may also want to consider time of year and location.
Fall - Mountains
Spring - anywhere
Summer - Lake/Beach
Winter - Cozumel ...

OK, I better stop before I get myself in too much trouble.

Yes! Cozumel! And we can arrange for one of those monstrous Antonov An-225s to fly us there, with the cars! And you'll organize this, Chris?

Well that was a little "higher" than I was thinking....

Aren't there some twisty roads through the mountains of Mexico?
Roadtrip!

Hey Lee... you've replied on this thread twice, but we still haven't heard your opinion about the question at hand. Care to add your $.02?

There seems to be a generally positive consensus from those that have responded so far. Can we get an email sent out to all the club members about it? It would be nice to have a larger sampling of the group than just the nine people who've responded so far.

Having more than one meeting seems like a good idea to me. Especially if they rotate around, some people would be able to go to just one and some would go to all. Just the information exchange between the 2 groups would be would be excellent and certainly help raise the enthusiasm as well.

As far as a meeting in CLT, seems like the new MINI dealer over there would be happy to sponsor something.

I think quarterly meetings and moving them around is the way to go.
