Any experience or tips on cleaning throttle body and manifold
I'm in the process of cleaning up after a failed turbo. Replacing misc items and cleaning the remainder. I took the throttle body and intake manifold off to clean and inspect the intake ports. Cleaned them a few years ago and they don't look too bad. However, when I pulled the air hose off the throttle body a bunch of oil dropped out. I suspect that came from the turbo. Last time I had the throttle body and intake off I just superficially cleaned all surfaces with a cloth rag. Now I'm wondering if a cleaning might be in order. I'm thinking Dawn liquid wouldn't hurt it. Thoughts appreciated.
I can't be the only one ever to take this part out. It's my second time and second time cleaning intake valves. Last time I had it out, I just wiped it with a soft cloth, but this time there was more oil. From the other thread I may consider a catch can in future mods. I'll take a bit of Dawn and water to it for now. I have a bunch of tubes still to degrease.
Well it's going back in today. Used Dawn and water sparingly. Used compressed air to blow out any water residue. Let it dry overnight. If I killed it I'll let y'all know.
