Turn Your Radio On!

OK, so usually you don't use the radio... you play CD's or run your ipod through your MINI's stereo... but when you DO use the receiver, what do you listen to? I'm hooked on NPR, but in the morning I'll switch between that and The Bob & Tom Show.

Godspeed.

I listen to NPR mostly, or the local classical music station, or the TCU station which is lots of fun.

The reception isn't that great.... I listen to the local radio station morning show (read: sleepy) and when I get closer to work I can pick up the NYC channels, but I usually don't change it.. Commute home is usually iPod.

In our other cars I can pick up the NYC channels for the ride to work..

I usually have it set at an adult alternative station or contemporary jazz. I keep the volume low enough that I hear it only while Im waiting for the light.

Since I drive my MINI with my windows open, I don't usually listen to anything but the car.

NPR for the morning commute and Air America Radio (Randi Rhodes) for the ride home. On the weekends it's usually the iPod.

NPR or BBC is the morning news. Sometimes a little Howard Stern when I feel dirty  Otherwise, it'll be my MP3 player, or XM 80- The Move...

Hey sndwave? Good evening, and welcome to the BBC!

Where I live NPR starts broadcasting the BBC from 2 AM to 6 AM. With the flex hours I work, I head off to work anywhere between 2 and 4 so the BBC is always on with their morning broadcast.

Howard Stern gets the bulk of my non-CD time. Occasionally the non-Clear-Channel alternative music station during the day, or a Padres game on Sunday afternoon.

It's interesting that so many Mini owners are NPR junkies! I'm guessing most people don't even know what NPR is!

My husband listens to NPR all the time & it is quite interesting. But sometimes I just want to hear "mindless music" while I'm driving.

Weekday mornings it's usually 98Rock's KML Morning show, or most other times for music and local info. Other times it's 91.5 WBJC classical. Most other stations around here have become ClearChannel/Infinity/Viacom corporate tripe not worth listening to. To help with that, Sirius fills the bill, where I will have mostly The Bridge, Classic Rewind, Classic Vinyl, Buzzsaw, Octane, The Vault, Spectrum, Symphony Hall, Planet Jazz, Sirius Blues, OutQ and NPR in rotation. When I disconnect from the outside world, CDs in the dash or in the changer or my nearly filled 40gig iPod are playing.

Then there are times where I just listen to the motor.

If motoring in the AM, it's "Armstrong and Getty", local AM talk. After that, the Rush Meister, afternoons, it's Tom Sullivan, another local talk guy. For music, we listen to The eagle 96.9 FM (classic rock) or Country 105.1.
But, usually it's CD's or the iPod.
I love having my own radio station on the iPod, I have all of my CD's on it, and play all the tracks at random. Great for the long trips!

Usually have the Sirius radio on BBC World Service or The Young Turks on Sirius Left. When I'm looking for music I'll jump between Sirius 6, 7, and 8 (60's, 70's, and 80's respectively). On the weekend I may slid over to NPR Talk or NPR Now for Car Talk or Wait Wait Don't Tell Me!

As for local stuff, I only listen to the local news station, all the other stuff here is crap.

If there was a switch box for the Aux input so I could easily switch between the Sirius and an iPod without fumbling with wires and connectors, I'd probalby put that in....

I know, huge waste of an HK for mostly talk radio...

NPR mornings, iPod or exhaust most other times.

I agree with mbabischkin, most local rasio stuff (wherever) is usually pretty crappy.
