Do I have the same turbo as the MCS?

Someone on the F56 forum said yes, but as I recall someone also said that with the N18 engine the JCW had a different turbocharger, not just an ECU tune. Maybe I got mixed up with the N14. Who's right? Thanks in advance.

John Cooper Works MINIs have a larger turbocharger and a lower compression ratio than the Cooper S Minis.

So that is true for both the N14 and the N18 JCW cars? There was some change made in the JCW models between those engines.

Yes it is true for both N14 and N18 engines. The turbochargers have different part numbers.

Here is the real oem site, it lists part numbers and prices for all BMW products.
You can check for yourself.

The S turbocharger is a 37mm and the JCW is a 40mm.

The part numbers between the N14 and N18 turbos are also different, I'm assuming that the N18 turbos were slightly updated internally. They will all bolt on to any N14, N18 motor. The only thing to watch out for is the intake tube opening has a slightly larger diameter for the JCW versions, this should be replaced if upgrading to the JCW turbo.
