R56 Intake/WaterPump/Thermostat
Intake/WaterPump/Thermostat
Over the past two weeks i have been working on my mini first replacing the waterpump and then the tube that runs the pump and thermostat together. This morning I went to fire the car up and let the car warm up. The engine sounded great it sounds 100% healthy. But then once the car dropped rev to normal idle BOOM cel and limp mode. The revs up to 1.5k then back down and the warning on the dash is Mini cruise control system failure warning light. (

Silly question, but did you bleed the thermostat? I know that there are several sensors in the thermostat, and if one of them doesn't get the proper temperature in a certain amount of time, then it will throw a light.

No I did not I just filled it then pumped the hose at the bottom until the air bubbles got out
Update so i wet for a test drive and if start off i can only get a max speed of 40mph and it takes 3miles to get there but if i turn off my car and tune it back on holding my rev at 3k the car is fine no limp mode and it acts normal then once i speed up too fast or slow down around 2.1k rpm the limp mode come backs on
All I had to use to read my codes is a Walmart reader but I ordered a BMW / MINI iCarsoft i910-2 and will be here in the moring (Amazon Prime saves the day ) but the codes were:
p0190
p0338
p0539
p0702
p0937
p1638
p1839
p1a02
p1c20
Now this moring while driving was rough max speed was 40 mph then I can turn off my car turn on hold the rev a 3k and the car acts normal no limp mode just cel. But if I were to slow down it would kill itself and back at 40mph. On the way back I was able to keep the car at a solid 3k getting around 55 mph for about 20 minutes straight and once I stopped I got no codes so I pulled off normal but not mashing the car and it was fine so I pull into the garage and park let it idle down and its fine. so I decided to rev it... sounded fine gave another rev and then boom limp mode. So I turn off the car and go inside. Come back out 10 minutes later and I try and start the car and its dead... I know my battery was close to needing replaced but I just drove for 40 minutes and when I started it this morning sitting out side all night in the cold and it started up just fine.
