Question about removing visor decals

Hi all,

Taking delivery of my 05 MCS on Thursday (finally! after 3 weeks since it arrived at the dealer in Ohio!), and I was reading up on removing the sun visor decals today. I happened to be at the pharmacy anyway so I picked up the following product: Humco Completely Denatured Alcohol. It's "Formula 19-190 Proof" and contains "Ethyl Alcohol 90.5%, denatured with methyl isobutyl ketone 3.8%..." etc etc.

Is this the right product to use to dissolve the adhesive for the visor decals? Would it be very very bad to get any on the interior, especially the HB dash?

Thanks!

-mike

Hmm...I got mine at a hardware store, so I'm not sure. I also got rid of it so I can't check the bottle for what it contained.

Should be fine. Do keep it away from dash and everything else. If you are worried you sould do a little test spot in a place that won't be noticed.

Good luck.

Mike,

I would just use 91% isopropyl alcohol. This is what I used.

What I did was to get some 91% along with some cotton *****. I took the visors off the car (real easy to do). I then unrolled 4 or 5 cotton ***** and placed them over the stickers. Then I saturated them with the alcohol and let them sit for 5 mins. The stickers will then come off easy as pie.
I had to rub a little after I got the stickers off as there was a hint of shininess where the stickers were. I then used some 303 aerospace protectant and unless you look hard you can’t tell there ever were stickers there.

Here is another link that talks about removing the stickers:

Thanks Steve, I already bought the denatured variety, and it seems others in that thread have had no problem going that route, so that should be okay too, right?
