Interior LED lighting questions...

Just installed the full Ziza LED interior lighting kit in my '16 CM ALL4S. Largely it was smooth as silk, although the front dome procedure was more entailed and stressful than i had anticipated! HA!
Couple of questions.
1. Can LED bulbs blow? One of the puddle bulbs under the doors flickered for a moment then wouldn't work at all. I think it blew while I was installing it but this is my first experience with any LED lights so thought id ask the NAM pros on this site. I was handling the LED bulbs with a cloth as much as possible.
2. This one scares me. Front map lights. The process of removing the assembly was kind of stressful. However, after replacing the bulbs both map lights work just fine when toggled. Can anyone tell me... Are the map lights supposed to come on when I unlock the car and open the door or do the front map lights ONLY work when triggered with the toggle switches. I cant remember but I do know that after installing the LED bulbs in the front map location they are not coming on automatically the way the rear dome does when I unlock the car and open the door. Pretty scary. HA!
Thank you for any help, direction or advice.

Hello,

I can help you. Make sure the contacts on the LED bulb are making contact with the base metal prongs (on the car side). Some people don't push them in all the way and they make half contact or work there way out as they are not in all the way. The prongs have a little bit of spring force to them.

The maps dont come on with the dome like with the old halogen bulbs. Just the domes come on.

Thanks for the purchase and if you need anymore help, let me know or just shoot me a PM.

Thank you ECS. Appreciate the support
RE: My puddle light. It blipped a couple of times and acted as if it blew out (although I doubt that). Ill try again this afternoon when it warms up some (CO is getting cold!)

RE: My map lights. Sounds like i have installed everything properly and its all working properly. Phew! So I have lost the "on when door open" functionality of my map lights with the installation of LED's?

Thanks again!

Welcome,

Yea, just try to reinsert it, line it up.

The map lights are on a separate system. They should not turn on when you open the door , just the overhead dome light should.

If the Ziza led is replaced for any interior halogen bulb, you will not loose a function unless someone coded a change in the function.

Do the map lights glow softly on this kit or are they internally resisted? @ecstuning

They should dim up and down if the factory ones dim on open and close. They are canbus (no bulb out errors), so they are on strong if full power. Nice bright glow.

Swap the bulbs between the doors to identify whether the bulb has failed.

The interior is not checked for errors so it doesn't have to be canbus, but are they resisted? I worded my question poorly, I meant to say do the map lights turn on and off properly. I put in a sylvania led and it stayed dimly lit whilst the map light was off, which means it needs a resistor.

ok, now I understand.

Yea, they have resistors. They are on and off. No little dim light like they are barely on.
Hope that helps.
