suggestion of power steering pump

Hello everyone. I recently looking for a power steering pump replacement for my 2006 mini cooper s. However I'm not sure if I should go for the OEM or Aftermarket. Not thinking of rebuild cuz WMW not recommending since it gonna fail so soon after replace.

Here are the choices
1. Remanufactured By Bosch ZF
- #1 offer LIFE TIME REPLACEMENT PROMISE
2. Aftermarket from Way Motor Works
3. OEM from Way Motor Works

Please I really need some recommendation or suggestion cuz I have been looking online for a month and still cannot decide which one to buy.

Thank you very much and have a nice Thanksgiving !!!

There was a recall on the power steering pump (& fan) for 2002-2005 Coopers/Cooper S models, so you may be able to have it replaced at a dealer for free if your '06 has a late 2005 build date. Not sure, but worth checking into.

Enter your VIN at the link below to see if you qualify.

An 06 car would almost definitely not be covered under the EHPS recall.

We have 3 options on hand; one is a Dorman unit, one is OE, and the other is the Bosch, we have installed a couple of the Dormans with good luck aside from a few that seem to have a weird whirring every now and again, but it's a cheaper option than the stock replacement.

Price points would fall as:
Dorman $495.30
Bosch $530.40 plus a $100 core
MINI OE $799.89 (latest updated price) plus a $150 core

For the price difference between the Dorman and the Bosch I would go with the Bosch, it's a great pump with a decent warranty and is also a mid price between OE and a cheap option.

Give us a call if you end up needing one, we have them on hand and ready to ship.

the power steering pump is not easy to failure. check oil level first. and then check power steering fan.

if fan is not work perfectly, the power pump will get very hot and limit the power.

yup i asked my mechanic did the detail check up with the car at the time I done the upper motor mount. Unfortunately they said it has the leak.
Now I'm thinking to do the pump replacement after I replace the tires and alignment cuz I want them to double check the pump, fan, and the lines.

Question here
: Is there any lights on when the fan is not working or sth
I only hear the whine sound when I turn the steering.

Maybe can anyone points out more symptoms of steering, pump and fan failures again here please?

hard steering?
leaking?
and etc...

Thanks for the reminder by the way bro =]

a whine is normal, when my pump failed, It started with intermittent power steering lost that became more and more frequent.

The fan just gets gummed up and stops turning so if you try and spin it and it feels gritty it's probably not a bad idea to replace it.

Usually the leaks come from lines, which are fairly easy and in expensive to replace.
