About a week ago I started to smell fuel while driving my mini. I popped the hood while letting it idle, and I could see fuel spraying from under the intake on the passenger side. I finally pulled the intake tonight to see where the leak was coming from. It seems to be spraying out the end of the fuel rail

Here is a picture showing where the the fuel was spraying out. Should there be a plug/cap on the end of the rail? Do I need to replace the fuel rail?

Thanks, I looked up the rest of that article. That helps, I will remove the rail so I can get a better look.

 

Well that plug is still in the end of the rail, but I know that is where I saw fuel spraying from. So I am pretty sure its bad, and needs to be replaced. I removed the fuel line and the 4 torx bolts holding the rail down. But it feels like all 4 injectors are stuck, along with the fuel rail. I will try tugging on it again tomorrow.... I really hate working on this car...

 

The Bentley says that once the fasteners are removed you should be able to pull off the fuel rail but the injectors will stay in the head. Removing the injectors is another ordeal that may require special tools to pull them out.

 

If the fuel injector stays when you pull the fuel rail straight up and out of the cylinder head you can remove the fuel rail and leave the injectors stuck in the head. At that point you will need the special tool used to extract the injector, MINI tool number 13 0 220, which is HERE.

I don't think i need to actually remove the injectors. Just the fuel rail, but maybe i should replace the seals while i am in there.

 

I didnt touch it yesterday, but I finally got it out today. And all 4 injectors came out with the fuel rail

Here is the end of the rail, I cant see any cracks? But it does have some corrosion.

Could it just be leaking past the injector seals?

 

Nice! Glad the injectors came out. Do you have a picture of the leak when you popped the hood with everything still intact? If you saw fuel coming from the end of the rail, I would probably start there. A pic of the actual leak would help a bit too. And yes I'd recommend doing the seals on the injectors too.
