My Mini has a medium loud rattle/clicking sound coming from what seems like centered behind the radiator only with the a/c turned on. I have searched the forums and see several others who have had some type of rattle noise too. Would anyone that has had the rattle and resolved it please post what the cause was to help me troubleshoot my rattle noise? It would help a lot. Thanks for any info!

 

Could be the clutch on the a.c. pump. When they syart to go they tend to make noise. But ita hard to tell without being there. But since you said "with the a.c. on" that was my first thought.

 

Thanks Scooter24, I agree it's probably the compressor, but the noise is not to the front of the engine where the compressor is....it sounds like it's directly in the center of the radiator. But, I would expect the rattle to be much faster if the fan blade was rubbing, it's not that fast of a cadence.

 

can you post a short video? can be the fan, or the turbo heat shield?

 

Actually, I was asking people who have had the rattle noise and cured the noise if they would tell me what their findings were just to help me with things to look at that have caused the rattle in other cars.
