wow, I can't imagine that being an easy task. I'm sure everyone would like to see before and after pics if you get it done! I've seen a few classic MINIs around town with rhd and it's definitely even more unique than the MINI already is. Good luck.

I am sure it is possible and probably not too hard since the steering and pedals are drive-by-wire. The classic Minis were designed with exporting and low cost in mind, so they were symmetrical with the speedo in the middle, etc. All that is required to switch over is the correct steering rack and accelerator pedal. Everything else was the same. I am pretty sure that the new MINI was designed in a similar fashion. Although there are companies that specialize in converting classic Minis, it is unlikely to be common practice since they are available nearly everywhere in the world new. Consider contacting MINI specialists in the contries that have RHD cars such as Japan, Australia, South Africa, and the UK. They should be able to help out.

Before you go to great expense and trouble to do this, I'd recommend that you try driving an rhd car in a lhd country for awhile if you can. It may be cool, it may get lots of attention, but in terms of day-to-day functionality it's a complete pain in the neck.

You'll never get to see what's coming before you pull out of a parallel parking spot. It's almost impossible to see what's coming in the oncoming lane before you pull out to pass someone on a two lane road. ATMs, drive through restaurants, bank windows, drive-up phone booths? Forget them. You're on the wrong side of the car.

On the other hand, you'd finally be able to reach the hood release.

Haha! good point! But, isn't that what the passenger is for? releasing the hood?

The steering is drive by wire???There may be sensors on the steering, but servos make the rack move

First thing is order all the RHD linkages and intierior parts...then take the old one apart and put the new ones back in....So you need part #s...I have ordered a few things my self that are only for over seas technically...so it can be done!
