I've got a second set of R83 wheels for winter tires on my wife's R57. The center cap popped off one of them, so I ordered some extras from ECS.
There appears to be an adhesive backing on the sticker. Is that sufficient to keep it on there?
There's also a bunch of left over adhesive from the old sticker. What's the recommended solvent to remove that kind of glue? I'd want to avoid anything that'd otherwise wreck the finish on the R83 wheel.
Clean the old stuff off with wd40 on the residue and then a wet cloth and let dry. Peal and stick the new ones. Or you can hit them with a little glue like above. You can see our pics on the link and see the new backing.
so the thing to look at is the contact area the tape will have vs what the wheel looks like where you stick it .... and the fact that the cap is not flat either ....
To follow up, I used the Turtle Wax product to remove any traces of the old adhesive. Then I attached the new one just using the adhesive on the back. I did this back in the summer, on a warm day. The emblem is still there some months later.
