Bluetooth issues

Hey everyone,

I tried looking in the manual, but I didn't really get anywhere. I'm hoping you can help.

I just bought an S ALL4 with the basic bluetooth connectivity. There is a "commands" button on my steering wheel, but it doesn't seem to do anything. I was hoping to be able to use it to talk to my phone and have it dial phone numbers by name... but it appears that I either have a defective system OR I don't have that feature because of the bluetooth package I got.

Any ideas? Being able to press a button without looking, speaking a couple of words and talking to folks would be much safer in heavy traffic than screwing around with my phone to do so.

Thank you!

That voice button is useless. Known issue. No workaround. Even people who have it working say it doesn't work well. Don;t think there was ever an upgrade to address this.

Best choice is to use some form of hands free mode on your phone. On some phones you can say "OK Google" and it will listen.

Would be nice to map this button to this voice activation on your phone (Google Now, Siri) or as a Mute On/Off button.

FYI, the phone button on the steering wheel is useful It will call the last number you dialed by the car. So dial some number by the car's interface ("keypad") and now the call button will dial that for you when pressed.

Thanks. That's very sad to hear. Yeah, I noticed the last number dialed thing by accident. It keeps dialing my work conference line, as it's the only number I've ever dialed through the car's phone interface, rather than my iPhone.

Well... I'll learn to live with it. Car's so much fun to drive. Thanks for the reply.

My first countryman was a 2012 S all four I had the button the car never understood anything I said so I never really used it. I did use the relocation of the microphone mod and it still didn't help.

I now drive a 2015 S all four with Mini connected. The microphone it is now located right above the driver and I use it for all the connected functions it's great

But even in my old car without the connected feature the car still always responded when I press the button. It just never understood any commands.

Dictated to Siri.
