R50/53 What is this?
Good news and Bad News.
Good News. The Brown wires are Ground wires. So no cover. they are connecting to Ground. Bad news. Looks like corrosion, dirt, junk, got in there. you should clean it re solder or whatever to make sure those wires that need a ground are getting it.
More Bad news. your Hydraulic Motor engine dampener/ motor mount has sprung a leak that is the brown stain. You need to replace it. Bad news. they are not cheap. Good news they are really easy to replace. So it wont take you long or cost you much.

Thank you so much for the fast reply!! Good info about the ground connector.
Good news!! The the motor mount has already been replaced, that brown crap is the remnant of the old leaks. I guess they didnt do a good clean up like I would have!!
Any idea about what that blue thing is? I can't follow the wires as they disappear under something.
Thanks again!!

Blue thing is the wheel speed sensor connector. The actual sensor is bolted to the knuckle. The zip tiring is common as the connector isn't very tight and can wiggle loose. The pins inside are tiny and easily broken
