Interior/Exterior shedding S.roof weight
shedding S.roof weight
So the front sunshade ripped yesterday. Not willing to pay $140 to replace it since it's of little use in shading the sun. I've ordered a pair of ZippyShades and I'm considering taking out both the broken front and the rear to shave off weight. They probably don't weigh much but just like the hot side muffler and noise maker, I like to remove and discard useless items.
Doesn't seem too difficult to replace but wondering if things would still operate if I simply remove and discard them?
Anyone tried this before?
thanks!!!

Hi, yes you can do it and everything works perfect. To remove them you have to unscrew the torx bolts that holds the sunroof glass, remove it carefuly, get the sunshade out then reinstall the glass.
Hope I helped a bit
. I got it out and trying to glue the net to the spring and I will reinstall it. I refuse to pay that amount of money for that cr@p! If you remove it, it has kind of hole where the plastic grip was when it was closed and I dont like that!

My front one started tearing away and the driver side then the spring or metal band broke. I tore away the shade and removed the spring and stuck a zippie shade in there. I was thinking I should have just had them tinted 5%. I'm leaving the frame there especially now that you tell me there's unfinished looking void when you remove it.
