Temps after t-stat housing change: is this right?

Hi everyone,

I just changed my thermostat housing, it finally went at 91,000 miles. No real disappointment there, I've seen them fail earlier on cars renowned for reliability. I just was wondering if these temperature differences sound right.

Old leaky housing: 85-95C
New housing: 95-103C
Both city driving in 80F weather.

Is this... right? I'm pretty sure it's totally bled, no air bubbles from the bleed valve and the reservoir level is stable. I'm thinking the lack of air (surely the cracked housing let air in) is letting the coolant more efficiently grab heat from the engine. Is this right, or should I be trying to hunt bubbles?

Edit: Oh, and I am using cheaper coolant right now. She just dropped $30 worth of BMW coolant on the ground this month, so she's getting $10 coolant because that's what I can afford to do right now.

Sounds about normal, I've seen temps on these cars in excess of 225*F under spirited driving.

Mine set at 219-225. R58 JCW. Please use the MINI Coolant or coolant that meets the standards. Some other coolant options linked.

Replaced the thermostat on my 2012 Clubman S and I'm seeing 215F to 230F while driving.

With new housing, same as before 195 -220. Put AC on high and watch the temp drop.
