Just got my first R53.

Hey guys, just picked up my first '05 R53 Cooper S, I really must say, never had I owned a car that I thought about driving more through out my work day than this car. This is my new AutoX / Daily Commuter. My other car, a 04 Audi A4 USP Avant is getting to be a little too much to daily into the city. (As its putting down 621awhp and running E85).

The car has:

WMW Stratmosphere resonated exhaust
Megan Racing Header
15% WMW Underdrive pulley
Poly Engine mounts,
Megan Racing coil overs,
Hotchkis rear sway and tie rod adjustments.
CAE Shifter

I must say, the Megan Racing coilovers are terrible, extremely firm and unforgiving over the slightest of bumps, most likely going to switch to PSS9s.

What the car needs:

Door lock actuator. (Pin doesn't go back up on driver door when opening with remote).

R/R strut is probably blown, knocks a good amount.

I have a crunchy clutch pedal, from my understanding thats the throwout clutch bearing starting to go bad.

So, is the door lock thing a thing, then? Cause mine is doing it too. 100k on the clock.

Is it still locking and unlocking, the stem just isn't going up and down?

Crunchy clutch pedal is a symptom of the guide tube wearing out - just budget for a clutch and flywheel replacement soon.

Mine does it with 52k on it, I'm planning on doing a clutch this winter.

It is amazing, I highly recommend this mod. I'm really considering getting this for my A4, though I need to figure out if it will bolt up to a RS4 transmission.

It may have just slipped out of the plastic clip that holds it in the door. If you take your door panel off and it's just dangling that's what I would check first. Mine popped out and fell down inside the door luckily but if not its around a dollar I think from ECS.

Shifter looks awesome. Is it like a sequential in that you just shift forwards and backwards or does it still shift normally?

As in, if I manually open the door it does, but it does not go up with the remote. Its more than likely the door actuator.

The shifter is still a standard H pattern, its just extremely locked down. I'll take a quick video when I get a friend in the car.

Damn BMW, it makes a A8 trim panel look like a joke.

Did the same and I do the same... and every time I drive it I have a silly grin on my face. Suggesting you do a single mass flywheel conversion. I also changed my clutch fork and pivots (extra $100 was worth it in my books) but aren't required.
