2006 JCW Key Problem

I've read a number of post but still have a problem.

I just replaced the battery in my key (it was working fine but could tell the battery was going down because I had to be almost next to the car to get it to open the locks).

Now everything works great but it WON'T LOCK with the key. The door and the boot unlock fine.

I've gone through the sequence of turn key to 1st position, removing key, pressing and holding unlock, pressing lock 3xs, releasing both unlock and lock a number of times.

I check and re-soldered the lock switch. Nothing

Help?

THANKS

Are you saying that remote unlock works, but remote lock doesn't?

If it was working before (although with weak signal) and stopped working after, it was something that happened during your work to open the key and replace the battery. I'd check for any solder joints that may have become loose.

RKW, thanks for your willingness to help. Yes, the key worked fine albeit the signal was weak. I don't believe anything was damaged when I took the key apart (its not the first time I've done this). But nonetheless I did re-solder the center switch. It will unlock the doors and it will unlock the boot but it will not lock anything. I was leaning toward the key needing to be re-synced but following the procedure here on the forum I can't get the car to recognize the key. In other words when I have completed the procedure and release the lock and unlock buttons the door locks don't unlock/lock signaling the re-sync has been accepted.

What I mean is that there may have been a marginal solder joint somewhere on the circuit board, and simply handling the board may have pushed it over the edge. Not necessarily at the switch. I can't think of what else could have happened.
