These are used wheels, I don't know what kind of driving the previous owner did. The cracks are only on one wheel.

 

Those look like torsion stress. I'd ditch that wheel in a heart beat. Other wise a loss of heart beat could ensue....screen name notwithstanding.

 

Are you sure they are cracks and not just scratches on the paint?

If they are cracks.... wheel is junk....a big pothole might have done it, who knows.

 

strange ....

the wheel is painted and clear coated .... and paint does not typically crack like this (over a hard surface) suggesting "are you sure it is a crack" AND

if the wheel hit something hard enuf to make such a crack I'd expect to see rim damage (I see some curbing but no dents)

there ARE ways to test to see if the crack is superficial but if you don't already know how to do this then by the time you pay for it .... forgetaboutit

I'd say three options ....

1. Walk away

2. Buy 3 and look for a fourth

3. Take the question to a good 'wheel place" and they can test it .....

ME? I'd walk away unless the price was REALLY REALLY good.

final thought ... what does the backside look like?

 

Well, I got the wheels for $25 a piece, there is no cracks on the back side. I will try to find a matching wheel I guess.

 

Update: I took the wheel to a wheel repair shop and they said those are scratches and it's purely cosmetic.

 

Sounds good....was thinking it was just some odd road damage or bad cleaning attempt.
