F57 windscreen part number & compatibility

Hi all,

I hope this is the right section, didn't find one for the new F57s. I'm the owner of a new F57 just purchased today. I traded in a 2012 Mazda MX-5 retractable hardtop. I drive a lot with the top down and like to do it even when it's a bit cold outside. The Miata was easy to drive in the cold because it had heated seats, a good heater, and no back seat. I suspect with my F57, a wind deflector will be a necessity. I'm trying to find a discounted price on the factory wind deflector. The $500+ price from the dealer is a bit excessive. Do any of you know the part number for the F57 wind deflector? Is it the same as the earlier convertibles. Any enlightenment is appreciated.

Though not the factory design, several folks find this a cost effective alternative: https://www.chewy.com/dog/solvit-fro...FZGIaQodRKQF9Q

While not the most esoterically pleasing...that pet barrier offers some serious savings.

If you search on amazon, eBay etc., you can find the prior Gen screens in the $280-$350 range. Pretty sure the the prior two Gen screens worked on either model fine...not sure if the new F57 had any changes that would prohibit you.

Just picked up a 435i Convert and with the windscreen the interior is quiet, non-windy and overall worth the money. I have yet to drive a Mini with a windscreen...but have seen similar, very positive reviews on its impact in this smaller 4-seater.

Other options out there that cost less than oem but not sure how good the quality/effectiveness is. Anyone with a windblox who can chime in?

Spot on! Saw several reviews on FB a few days ago and they were happy campers with the price and performance. If I owned a vert I would seriously consider this.

I don't know that the factory wind deflector is worth the cost. I bought mine second hand on eBay for $200 or so dollars. It does reduce the wind but doesn't totally eliminate it. What I do like it about is that when in use the backseat is rendered unusable so I always hav an out when people want rides.

Thanks for the feedback

Thanks everyone who responded. I did run across the pet barrier during my forum search. I'm sure it's by far the most cost effect solution. However, call me silly, I'd still like a go at the Mini deflector if I could get it for a reasonable price. I was hoping there might be a tech on the forums who has access to Mini's parts database and could look up the part number and application/compatibility.

Well, for the time being until you find the official hardware, why not get the cheap one and enjoy being able to hear what your passenger is saying at 70 MPH? As the F57 flourishes, the standard deflector will become more common and someone will have one on ebay at a bargain price. That's where I found mine a few years ago.

Here's the part number for the wind deflector : 54347358171 and the pouch (not required, but it keeps it protected when not in use): 54347269435

Do NOT try and use the 1st or 2nd gen wind deflectors - the width is different on the new convertibles and it won't fit properly. It's a brand new car, so you probably won't see a discounted one or used one anytime soon, but as someone else mentioned, the longer they are out the easier and cheaper it will be to find parts.

Are there different versions?

The wind deflector at shopminiusa.com appears to be different. It has pockets and is p/n 54340445398. Are there two different versions?

After further research, I suspect 54340445398 is for the Gen 2, 2015 and below but I'd like to confirm this won't fit the 2016.

54340445398 = R57 Gen 2 MINIs,. ( R57 Talk ) which shows the checkered screen and pockets/ chrome bars.

54347358171 = F57 Gen 3 MINIs ( Newest Convertible )

Link to diagram, #1 is 54347358171 #2 is the protective case. Usually the #1 comes with the case ( #2) also like it has in the past. #2 is for people who loose the case and need one.

Again the Gen 2 R57 / Gen 1 R52 wind deflector does not fit the Gen 3 F57 Convertibles.

Fellow R52 Gen1 convertible owner here to help

Got It

Thanks. I understand. the MINIUSA website threw me for a loop. I filtered it to show only accessories for the F57 but they mistakenly display the older wind deflector and part number. I ordered the 54347358171 from your website today. I appreciate the clarification.
