One side fits, the other does not
One side fits, the other does not
I'm in the process of replacing all my pads and rotors. I just did the front driver's side and now I'm working on the front passenger side. The front pads all came out of the same box. The front rotors are identical. I had no fitting issues with the front driver's side, but now the front passenger side won't fit together with the new pads and rotor. I can barely reassemble the old pads and rotors. I don't believe anything is the wrong type or size, given that the driver's side pads and rotor had no issues fitting things together. I'm at a bit of a loss trying to figure out what to do with the front passenger side.
are we talking a GEN2?
The 4 pads are NOT identical, but you've got to look close. There are two pairs ... the inners and the outers ARE different.
I noticed this when the first side wouldn't go together ... fortunately the old pads were not yet mixed up and a close inspection had me see the difference . . . You can probably tell the difference in the old ones as the inners have a wear mark from the piston (a circle)

It's a 2006. The difference between the inner and outer pads is obvious, but the problem was that I had to push the piston back. I finally figured out how to use the calliper tool kit that was sitting right in front of me the whole time. Not even Google was my friend, but once I saw the only obvious answer by looking at the kit, I got it done quickly. Feel silly now!
yea, GEN1 pads are pretty obvious
for benefit of other reads, here's a GEN2 set of fronts (I had the originals I'd replaced with EBC's as backups) ... the inners are on the right, note the hump at the top of the backing plate that is not on the outers . . . the hump allows full contact of the piston . . .

p.s. a lil car description in your sig' can help us focus in on the problem .... here, knowing it was a GEN1 issue, I'd never suspect you got the pad pairs confused. Almost impossible on a GEN1 ... relatively easy on a GEN2
